Day 1 – DEPART TORONTO/MONTREAL FOR
MADRID
Day 2 - MADRID
Transfer to Bilbao. Overnight in Bilbao. Free
day in Bilbao.
Suggested: Visit the Guggenheim Museum in Bilbao. Designed by the
North American architect Frank O. Gehry.
Day 3. SAN SEBASTIAN. Overnight in San Sebastian
Drive to San Sebastian • Free day to enjoy
San Sebastian.
Dinner on your own.
Day 4: Rioja. Overnight in Rioja
Drive to Rioja. Visit 2 wineries in Rioja –
one traditional and one modern. Taste of the local wine with lunch.
Tour of the small medieval villages of Rioja, Santiago Pilgrimage
Way with their monasteries and churches. Visit the medieval city
of LaGuardia with its stone paved streets and old subterranean bodegas
over which are many historic monuments and sites.
Day 5: Cooking in Rioja. Overnight in Rioja
Today attend a Cooking class in a private home.
The host, a great cook and lives in a wonderful restored water mill
in a rural setting, very close to Logroño. Learn the Riojan
specialties and have lunch at the house. Food will be paired with
Riojan wines that will be tasted at the same time.
Free afternoon in Logrono.
Day 6: Rioja and Burgos. Overnight in Burgos
Visit the Wine Culture Museum Dinastia Vivanco
in Briones. It includes five exhibition rooms, the Foundation’s
Documentation Centre, Conference Hall, Wine Tasting room for courses,
Restaurant, Café and Shop. It is the culmination of the Vivanco
family's dream. • Depart to Burgos. • Visit the town
of Burgos with the famous cathedral, a World Heritage monument by
UNESCO. • Dinner on your own in Burgos. Experience a real
tapas dinner around beautiful Plaza Mayor or Main Square. This time
we'll do some bar hoping, trying different tapas and wines. You’ll
discover why Spaniards love this fun and entertaining tradition!
This is also a great opportunity to taste the different wines produced
in the area of Castilla, besides red from Ribera, white from Rueda
and rose from Cigales
Day 7: Ribera del Duero. Overnight in Ribera
del Duero (H, B, L, WV)
Depart to Ribera del Duero. • Visit a
family owned winery in Ribera del Duero. Visit the historical site
of Penefiel
Day 8: Madrid (B)
Drive to Madrid. Check into hotel. Rest of day
at leisure to explore Madrid .
Day 9 - MADRID
City sightseeing tour of Madrid.
Day 10 – MADRID - CANADA
Breakfast. Transfer to Madrid airport for departure
to Toronto / Montreal.
